The History of Alliance

The motivation behind the creation of Alliance began in 1992 when Alliance founder John Todd transitioned out of the Army into Corporate America. He, like many Junior Military Officers, used the services of a JMO recruiting firm. After attending a hiring conference he joined a global Swiss based company as a Sales Representative back in his native New England. As promising as the transition began, it took a dramatic turn for the worse when in 90 days, the company abruptly announced a major reduction of its workforce as well as a major restructuring of its divisions. Amidst the downsizing it became apparent that this was no longer the same developmental opportunity he signed up for. After lengthy consultations with both his wife and boss, John made the decision to find another developmental opportunity. Finding a second job 100 days after leaving the Army was difficult and made a tough transition even harder. Thankfully John's second job truly was developmental and allowed him to successfully join corporate America, but the experience was a powerful reminder of how easy it is for a JMO to leave behind a successful military career and by no fault of their own find themselves in non-developmental and unrewarding opportunities.

Ten years later after leading one of the country's fastest growing companies to a 100% stock merger, John formed the parent company of Alliance International and made a commitment to build the premier JMO recruiting firm in the industry with the mission of making the transition to corporate America as successful as possible for top tier JMOs.

John hand selected 4 other people to join him and the firm opened its doors in 2003. Today Alliance has operations in its headquarters in Raleigh, NC; Cincinnati, OH; and is soon to open up a Texas operation. Alliance has emerged as a different type of firm with a far greater commitment to Career Management and proudly “Makes a difference one career at a time.”
